About Lip Contour

Q: How long does the Lip Contouring procedure take?

The procedure takes approximately 3 hours. It includes pre numbing, measuring and mapping out the lip shape most suitable for your facial structure. The artist will then confirm and obtain your approval and start the procedure.

Q: What will I look like right after the Lip Contouring treatment?

Immediately after the procedure: the pigment will appear very bold and bright and the lips will be mildly swollen. Day 1: lips must be cleaned with a damp cotton pad every 30 minutes. Do not be alarmed if pigment appears on the cotton pad. There will be color deposit remaining on the lip for 24 hours Day 2: cleaning time is reduced to every 2-3 hours. Day 3 onwards: clean the lips three times a day and apply scant amount of the provided cream. The lip skin will start to feel very dry at this point. The color might appear extremely faded and will reappear through the course of healing. The lip healing process is approximately 7 days, however you are encouraged to continue monitoring the color changes for the 28 days.

Lip Contouring also known as Shading is a great technique used to make minor corrections to your lip shape and color. A tattoo machine along with fine needles are used to penetrate color to the outermost layer of the lip skin.

Diabetes, history of Keloid scarring, on any type of blood thinner, pregnant/breastfeeding, have had any invasive or non-invasive procedures on lips or oral cavity in the last 6 months, received filler injections in the past 4 weeks and last but not least prone to cold sores or canker sores. Pre-Care

Before your Lip Contour appointment :

Avoid alcohol or caffeine consumption 24 hours prior to the procedure.
Avoid the sun and tanning one week prior to the procedure.
Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours prior to the procedure.
Please consult your physician before stopping your prescribed blood thinners.
No microdermabrasion or facial chemical peel one week before.

After-Care

7 days after the treatment:

Avoid swimming, sauna, sports, solarium and sunbathing, any natural or cosmetic products on the lip area.
Avoid touching your lips as much as possible.
Avoid scratching, peeling the dried flaky lip skin, scrubbing at the pigmented site, excessive firm rubbing and constant wetting of the skin
